Monday 18th June to Thursday 21st June
Volunteers from the Inland Waterways Association Northampton Branch in conjunction with the navigation authority, Canal and River Trust, will be carrying out improvements to the canal towpath where it goes over the Wootton Brook Culvert.

The current temporary traffic lights on Banbury lane covering the bridge over the canal and the River Nene are scheduled to last until the end of July 2018

As people may be aware from the 4th June Veolia started it's environmental services contract with Northampton Borough Council.
Waste and recycling collection
From 4 June, Veolia will be working with Northampton Borough Council to make recycling easier: residents will no longer need to separate cans, plastic, paper, cardboard and glass into the individual bins. They can all go in together.

People will be aware that the grass verges and the grass in the playgrounds have got very long and overgrown. The Parish Council is aware of this, but the grass cutting is carried out by the Borough Council who state that:

Can all pet owners please take note that there may be someone who is apparently trying to harm dogs in the Northampton area.
An incident occurred in Dallington Park, Duston on Sat 24th Feb where a dog walker found a lump of pork on the ground that had been stuffed with a white powder and left for an animal to find.

Sixfields Upton parkrun will be holding their inaugural run this Saturday, 24th February 9am to 10am at Upton Country Park. We are expecting up to 500 runners for this 5K event. Obviously with this many runners the park is going to be busy. All runners will be briefed and should be thoughtful of other park users, but it might be worth avoiding the park at this time if you are dog walking. Work has started trimming the hedges between the canal and the backs of Samwell Way and Ashpole Spinney.
The work is likely to take 2-3 days so could people please be aware and keep dogs on the lead.
There will be some damage to the grass which is unavoidable but it will soon green up and although the cutting back looks harsh it will recover soon. This is the first time these hedges have been trimmed in 25 years.. Read More »

The Parish Council have been in touch with Northamptonshire Highways regarding the closure of Banbury Lane and received the following.
"We had to shut Banbury Lane under an emergency Temporary Traffic Regulation Order road closure for today only. This is to install a concrete barrier to protect a damaged bridge parapet. After another cat killing and mutilation over the weekend, today Northamptonshire Police have issued a advice on keeping your pets, especially cats safe.
Officers are also working closely with the Metropolitan Police as well as the RSPCA on an investigation into these crimes in order to bring the perpetrator to justice.
