RSPCA 'very concerned' for animal welfare over 'paracetamol-stuffed meat' in Northampton park

Can all pet owners please take note that there may be someone who is apparently trying to harm dogs in the Northampton area.

An incident occurred in Dallington Park, Duston on Sat 24th Feb where a dog walker found a lump of pork on the ground that had been stuffed with a white powder and left for an animal to find.

    Sixfields Upton - parkrun

    Sixfields Upton - parkrun

Sixfields Upton parkrun will be holding their inaugural run this Saturday, 24th February 9am to 10am at Upton Country Park. We are expecting up to 500 runners for this 5K event. Obviously with this many runners the park is going to be busy. All runners will be briefed and should be thoughtful of other park users, but it might be worth avoiding the park at this time if you are dog walking. After this week the numbers should go down to a more manageable number.. Read More »

    Hedge Trimming

    Hedge Trimming

Work has started trimming the hedges between the canal and the backs of Samwell Way and Ashpole Spinney.

The work is likely to take 2-3 days so could people please be aware and keep dogs on the lead.

There will be some damage to the grass which is unavoidable but it will soon green up and although the cutting back looks harsh it will recover soon. This is the first time these hedges have been trimmed in 25 years.. Read More »

    Warning to cat owners

    Warning to cat owners

All cat owners please take care as two family pets were killed and mutilated and left in a bin liner in Duston at the weekend. This follows on from two other cats which were mutilated and killed a month ago.

The possibility has been raised that these attacks are linked and maybe related to cat attacks which have happened in Croydon, London.

There is a special report in the Chronicle & Echo
